One of my favourites of ALL TIME. Like an endagered species of the Serengeti, the mystique is still there for the original, even though the Safari colourway has been applied to so many other models. Waiting (but not hoping) for Nike to kill off the Safari with a general release soon.
Converse Chuck Taylor Mono Low ABC Mart, Tokyo 2006
Entirely white on white on white on white. I especially love the patchwork of different fabrics including canvas, velvet, corduroy and linen. So fresh.
Nike Air Max 90 Premium (Black/square polka dot) Mita, Tokyo 2007
I, along with most, am very tired of the played-out ‘Ninety’. Once my favourite, this Air Max model is EVERYWHERE these days and often released in the most disgusting colourways. Nevertheless I still wear these on rainy days like today. They have definitely taken a severe beating as they are not sacred. Keep reading →

My all-weather super-versatile staple to start things off.
_ ShoesToday? Why?
I have too many shoes. Because of this I have decided to stop buying sneakers. The last purchase was the above ’staple’ back in April. In ode of being more responsible with my play money, this documentary will force me to actually wear the collection I have accidentally amassed. I have always claimed to only buy to wear, and NOT to collect and keep box-fresh. For as long as I can keep going, I will wear a different pair daily and post it here on our blog. New day, new pair of shoes. I think 2 months is achievable. The challenge starts today.
Artist: Animal Collective Album: Merriweather Post Pavillion Year: 2009 Our pick: ‘My Girls’ and ‘In The Flowers’ Cover Art: 5/5. Trippy and mad standout on the shelves of Tower Records!
This is an ode to one of our all-time favourite films. Ever! We love The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Love the Adidas Zissou’s. Love the uniforms. Love the styling. Love the red beanies and thigh holsters. Love the stitched-in ‘Z’ on their sweaters. Love the claymations. Love Bill Murray. Love Cate. Love Wes. Love Klaus the German. Love the Filipino pirates. Love Seu Jorge. Love the Bowie songs in Portugese. Love the soundtrack. Love that Devo track. Love the the dissected set build of the Belafonte. Love the panning choreographed shots. Love The Life Aquatic encyclopaedia set. Love the oil-painted portraits. Love the correspondence stationary. Love the fine details such as the Team Zissou ring. But most of all, love the dry humour, strange characters, bizarre situations, witty dialogue and almost everything in/about the film.
If you have never seen The Life Aquatic, please add it to your to-do list. For us.
On Friday we went to visit our good friend Mitch Orr for lunch for his last day at the Beresford on Bourke Street. He is saying goodbye to one of our regular Friday lunchtime destinations (so no more squid-ink tortellini). His new venture is with Sepia, which is Martin Benn’s (former head chef of Tetsuya’s) new baby. A produce-driven and sophisticated menu utilising European techniques and subtle Japanese influences along with the creative touch of head chef Daniel Puskas (formerly of Oscillate Wildly) make Sepia unique and exciting.
OK, so you’re thinking we’ve gone a bit crazy for posting this. But honestly, I look forward to watching the weather segment of SBS World News. I thoroughly enjoy the Van-Gogh-Starry-Night-inspired animations. Not sure if the likeness was intentional but definitely the coolest weather patterns to ever be broadcasted, in this context of coarse.
Last night we completed stage 1 of the artwork we are doing for Cafe Negro. We are documenting the project here and above on the top menu.
Check out the current photos and follow the developments as we prepare for the second stage…
